Welcome to the University of Maryland! Our office is here to assist you in your search for housing.  Off-campus housing options are not affiliated with the University; therefore, the Off-Campus Housing Services office cannot make housing arrangements for you.  However, our office has many resources to support and guide you.  Please review the information below and contact us by email at och@umd.edu or by phone at (301) 314-3645 if you have questions or need individual assistance.

Housing

On-Campus Housing
Undergraduate: The Department of Resident Life provides on-campus housing to University of Maryland undergraduate students. For more information about on-campus housing, please click here.

Graduate: While the University does not offer on-campus housing for graduate students, there are two graduate student housing communities in close proximity to the campus. Graduate Hills and Graduate Gardens are located on University property, but are managed by a private company.

OCH Database
The OCH Database, is a web-based service that provides an up-to-date database of available housing opportunities in the vicinity of the University of Maryland. The OCH Database can be searched using your own preferences. From there, you can contact potential landlords directly with any questions you may have. Even if you cannot find a suitable listing that fits your criteria, please keep checking the database every 2-3 days, as it is updated daily.

Bulletin Board
The bulletin board is an in-person option available for those searching for housing. Listings are posted daily on our bulletin board located on the ground floor of the Stamp Student Union next to the Capital One Bank.

Off-Campus Living Fairs
The Off-Campus Living Fair is a one-stop shop for incoming students, faculty, and staff to research their off-campus living options. Participants will get personal assistance with the what, when, and where of off-campus living; learn how to work with landlords/property owners; learn their legal rights as tenants and being a good neighbor; learn how to link off-campus living options with area transportation; and meet other off-campus students and potential roommates.

Housing Search Training Module: Looking for a place to live, but don’t know where to start? Check out OCH’s new Off-Campus Housing Services training module on "How to Conduct an Off-Campus Housing Search." In this session, you will learn how to create your own off-campus living plan and the Top 10 Off-Campus Living tips every Terp should know.
OCH Database Training Module: We also have a quick video you can watch to learn how to use the OCH Database.

OCH Handouts: We also have a variety of handouts produced to help you with your housing search. All of our handouts are available in PDF format for your use. Likewise, we have links to various other campus and local resources.

Roommates

Roommate Search
The OCH Database hosts a Roommate Search funtions accessible only to Univerisyt of Maryland Students, Faculty and Staff. Roommate seekers can post searchable profiles of themselves that describe their living styles, including study, sleep, as well as cleaning habits. Roommate Finder can be searched using your own preferences. In addition to only returning those profiles that match your criteria, Roommate Finder also determines the percentage to which each profile matches your search criteria. University username and password are required in order to access the database.

Roommate Finder Mixer
The Roommate Finder Mixer is hosted during every Off-Campus Housing Fair. This event allows you to meet and interact with other students, as well as search for a roommate.

OCH Roommate Guide: This guide is designed to help you find a roommate; ask the right questions in order to make a good match; provide you with tips for communication; as well as offer strategies for dealing with conflict.

Campus Resources

Office of International Student and Scholar Services
The Office of International Student and Scholar Services provides assistance to international students with the process of applying to the University of Maryland, advising on immigration requirements, as well as making the most of their academic experience here on campus.

International Student Arrival Guide
The International Student Arrival Guide contains information about American culture and customs, the campus, and how to navigate the area, as well as other usual information for international visitors.

Off-Campus Student Life
Off-Campus Student Life provides services to support and enhance the educational experience of students who live off-campus.

Department of Resident Life
The Department of Resident Life provides on-campus housing to University of Maryland undergraduate students.

Department of Dining Services
The Department of Dining Services provides information about dining plans such as Terrapin Express, restaurant locations, as well as additional information about eating on campus.

Department of Transportation Services
The Department of Transportation Services provides information about parking permits, Shuttle-UM, carpooling, paratransit services and much more.
